This lovely barn is in the Palouse in Washington State. How interesting to have such a display of varied wagon wheels for a fence.
There are many old barns and buildings in the Palouse. They are a reminder of a once thriving farm community. What stories they could tell us.
Tranquility. It welcomes you to sit and breath the fresh sea air and let the kids play in the giant sand box.
What is it? It’s always fun to try guessing what the photographer has captured. There are many hidden images in the everyday items but one must look closely and with a different eye to spot them. This is a portion of a side of a boat.
Is it a butterfly wing? Is is a painting? No, it is the underside of a boat being sanded for repainting.
Water artistry worthy of gallery display. It’s amazing what water and salt can do to paint.
Lovely lotus pond located in Echo Park, Los Angeles. The Lotus Festival occurs every year in July. A great time to see these large and beautiful flowers. The empty pods are also very photogenic. I wish I could have gone in the pond to collect them. They make a great addition to flower arrangements.
And not to be forgotten or missed are the tulips at Descanso Gardens in La Cañada, Flintrige, California.
A fishing boat rests on the shore in Homer, Alaska.
This abandoned Point Reyes Shipwreck is located in Inverness, California. Unfortunately, a few years ago, there was a fire set to it and it no longer exists. I am glad I had the opportunity to capture this piece of history.
Another relic fishing boat in Homer, Alaska.
On a brisk fall morning, I came upon the beautiful Intake 2 lake in Bishop, California. It was breathtaking. The water was still and gave this perfect mirror reflection. I could not get enough of the gold colors in the middle of the blue skies and the snow capped mountain.
This is one of the Mitten Buttes located in Navajo Nation’s Monument Valley Park, Arizona. If you have not yet been there, it should be on your list of next destinations. It is truly a wondrous experience.
Fall is my favorite season. Living in Southern California, one does not get the seasonal changes. But, going north to Bishop, California offers us this pleasure of seeing the leaves changing colors. A great destination for photographers.
A trip to Havana, Cuba in 2013 revealed a beautiful city of friendly people, lively music and classic architecture. Walking along the famous El Malacón Boulevard, one can immediately see the impressive 16th century fortress Morro Castle. Even though time has stood still for Cuba, the beauty of the city still shone amid its decay. I toured the city in a modern bus and saw the pride of the people. There is not much wealth in Havana, but there are some that thrive. I had the pleasure of eating at some wonderful restaurants run by individuals who were committed to prepare great food. The service was excellent and it was done with a smile. I also had the pleasure of visiting the beautiful works of 2 very interesting artists who did not let their disconnection with the United States affect their art, creativity and passion. Cuba is a very special place that I hope will not lose its charm by incorporating big chain fast food restaurants and huge billboards along the highways
The following images are what I call “Paintographs” because I have digitally painted the photographs to look like traditional canvas paintings. It combines reality and my imagination of what I see in my mind. It opens up many creative expressions and challenges me to depict the image in a different manner than what the camera has captured.
